The last two days at work have been... interesting.
Yesterday started off with my 10 o'clock calling out sick (yes, I know, it happens a lot) and finding a whole case of spoiled half&half. Take it from me and let it be a lesson: Never ever, ever, ever, ever taste spoiled half&half. It really is that bad. Don't do it.
Patty received shipment. Patty punctured the Pepsi syrup bag. Patty put a quart sized bucket under steady drip and ordered another Pepsi.
Continuing through my day. The second closer couldn't come in any earlier than when they were originally scheduled and since I didn't have a 10 o'clock, that meant the first closer to arrive would be by himself until 6. 3-6.... quite a long time. I hadn't gotten to do trash or dishes and to top it all off, they stuck a trainee with me to train. I had the poor trainee do dishes, the closer volunteered to do trash--i.e. smoke break--and I ran the line. At 4, I sent the closer on his first break, then he took the trash out, and then helped with the line since it was forever long. I had my second to last customer blow up at me--silly business man doesn't know what licensing is--before I declared I was finished and going home. That was at quarter till 5. Yep, so almost an hour after my shift ended I was in no mood to put up with assholes.
Now for my second interesting day.
The opening manager meets me at the door when I get there with: "Your 10 o'clock has called out. Family emergency."
Fantastic!
I get to the cafe to begin my open and what do I find? A number of things wrong. Mostly restocking issues. I go to the kitchen to find plates and...SURPRISE! Pepsi flood! Wonderful, sticky, Pepsi syrup flood. Took almost 45 minutes to clean up. I barely managed to open in time.
Happy Friday the 13th!
And what happened to the warm weather? As soon as I decide to go to the beach, it rains and gets cold again. Evil!
