So my sister is a week over due (as of today) and people are full of advice: from consuming eggplant, to walking several miles, to sitting on an exercise ball, the ways to encourage the labor process are numerous. Babies also tend to come when the barometric pressure drops low enough. That typically happens during bad weather, i.e. blizzards, severe thunderstorms, hurricanes...tornados.
I'm sure most of you are aware of the several hundred tornados that have ripped across the South over the past few weeks. Most recently a few days ago. North Carolina (where my sister lives) was spared the recent terrible weather and so no baby has arrived because of that. She frustrated--as I'm sure all pregnant women are as they approach, and pass, their due date--but since my parents and I are visiting we are providing a much needed distraction.
Back to my thought on advice. My grandfather's advice has probably been the most amusing thus far. On hearing that there was no sign of labor he offered this suggestion: "Slip her some exlax."
My mom responded with: "Dad, she's pregnant, not constipated!"
