have you ever picked a book up off the shelf and flipped a few pages before grimacing and putting it back down? does it ever make you wonder how those author's get published and other "amature authors" struggle to get a query response? what gets me is when a fiction book is published and suddenly there's a huge contraversy over whether or not the book is fact or fiction. i don't care what dan brown says or even what his book says, his book the davinci code is historical inaccurate on a number of accounts. i haven't finished reading it but i would like to point out one thing, the templars were formed to protect jerusalem against muslim invasion. they were formed shortly after the first crusade in ~1095. they were the elites, the "navy seals" -- if you will -- of the crusaders. the les dossiers secrets has been discredited as a "historical prank."
i haven't finished the book but as i read i'll update and give my opinion. i usually don't read popular fiction since i usually find the plots bland and repetitive. so why am i reading it? because i'd like to be prepared when/if someone brings it up in conversation.
that was probably the most boring thing ever.
it must be strange owning a house and being responsible for everything that goes wrong with it. since i was a child i've watched my father care for the house and his property surrounding the house. i've watched him rebuild the house from the basement up and never once have i seen him hire someone to do it for him--with the exception of putting the windows in the sunroom because mom had a heart attack the only time he tried to do it by himself. from the washing machine breaking to the invasion of squirrels, dad's taken care of everything himself. which brings me to the past couple of weeks.
we've had an insect problem. nothing too drastic like scorpions (we've already had that invasion). we've been getting a lot of milipedes. they're disgusting and they're every where. the other night (while dad was in brussells) mom and i had enough and around midnight we broke out the bug spray and went crazy. the entire house smelled like the inside of a gojo bottle for about a day. it killed all the bugs... and our sense of smell.
on an interesting side note, did you know that bugs "lick" their feet? it's their sense of smell. they crawl along, lick their feet, crawl along some more, and lick their feet again. weird.
unfortunately, i have nothing of interest to post.
