El Niño is apparently the cause of the unusual weather we've been having. Well, we've certainly had enough rain. It's also March 22nd and it's 40 degrees. I think there were even flurries this morning. It did snow on Easter one year--but then, I was in Chicago so I don't know if that counts--so perhaps it isn't so unusual. Hopefully this is the last of the cold weather and we'll move into the normal season temperatures for Dixie.
The house is in the final days of being together. We've got about 5 more weeks together and then we're free of the rent. The freedom from rent for the next few months is really what everyone is looking forward to. I'm getting my food stuffs down to the bare minimum. Makes it interesting trying to find something to eat.
This week is my last week of classes and then I'm finished for the term. I can concentrate on getting as much of the afghan I'm working on completed as I can. I've only done about 5 rows since I posted that picture. I think I'll be able to work on it when I go home for my cousin's wedding. Since I'm not driving to South Carolina I'll be able to get a lot of it done in the car. So exciting.
I'm waiting for my package to get here. I'm starting to get impatient.
If anyone's interested in really local news, a prominent lawyer--Major Bashinsky--was found dead in the retaining pond at the Highland golf course across the street from CVS. He went missing the night of the 3rd and was found the 15th. Bashinsky was 63 years old and is survived by his wife and, I believe, 4 children. He was the son of the Golden Flakes founder. His car was found parked in Highland with a threatening note inside. Police haven't yet released the autopsy report.
There have been several shootings and muggings in the Highland Park area.
My neighbor 2 doors down, was arrested for domestic violence.
