have you ever watched the news or attended a meeting about what's happening around the world? well, this week samford is having a "sudan awareness week". it's shocking what is going on over there if you actually sit down and listen to a refugee talk about it. in 1983 the northern region of sudan suddenly and violently attacked the south; killing, raping, and murdering the people living there. 2 million civilians have been killed in sudan and millions more are now refugees. i believe it was last year that, under pressure from the u.s. and other countries, a treaty was signed between north and south sudan. in 2011, the southern region will have a vote to decide whether to remain a part of sudan or become its own country. what was happening in south sudan is now happening in the west, a region known as darfur.
and that is my global awareness post for the week.
in my personal life, i wrote the paper from hell and took a test from purgatory yesterday. my grandfather is moving to my house within the next week and a half and he's looking forward to it. in fact, i just talked to my parents and they said that he was disappointed that he wasn't moving down earlier. my poor g-pops. my brother's up at an interview in boston so i'm going to call him later tonight to see how it went. don't want to call him too early in case he hasn't turned off his phone and is still in the interview. that would be bad.
coming up tomorrow, the first installment of wednesday weird ones.
