why?

So, about 2 or 3 years ago, my hard drive crashed on my poor one year old Apple MacBook. It was a very sad thing. I had to fork over the money to buy a new hard drive. Today--or rather, yesterday--my hard drive crashed again. I don't know what it is with me and hard drives but I don't like it. I nearly cried on the phone with my mom who then said that Apples were more trouble than they were worth and I should tell Apple that. But I love my Apple. Love it. L-O-V-E.

After shedding a few tears, I jumped onto my PC (Photobucket ) and found the Apple Store appointment list because, thankfully, I have one within 15 minutes. I scrambled to get an appointment. The earliest I could get an appoint was 7:35 yesterday. That was a bummer because I had class from 7 to 8. I scheduled myself for 11:35 the following day and then called up the Apple Store to see if I could possibly get in earlier. I managed to snag an 8:15 appointment so I was able to run over immediately after class.

A very nice, wonderful Genius helped me. When he asked what was wrong, I told him my hard drive was either very dead or confused. When he asked what it was doing and I told him he agreed that it was probably very dead.

And it was. There was no hope. But, at least I had backed-up my data in... October... so I didn't lose everything this time. Just 4 months... which is a shame but not a whole lot can be done about it. Well, apparently I was able to get a new hard drive for free! I'm not sure why. I think he said something about since they'd replaced it at that store before they could replace it completely free of charge. I seriously didn't believe him at first and, strangely enough, I argued with him. So, an hour later I have my laptop back with a brand new hard drive. He also replaced the keyboard cover thingy and gave me a new battery. I'm so happy!

I'm going to see the parents and now I can leave on time.

Work called me during class. Yes, be surprised. It's actually a legitimate emergency. My manager's mother-in-law is either on her deathbed or has already passed and one of my coworker's mother died. They had no one else so I told Patty I'd call her back since I needed to sort out my schedule. I called back 2 minutes later and she'd already covered the shifts she asked me about, asked about this weekend but--since I'm going out of town--I had to decline. I am picked up a shift on Monday. It'll be weird being back working, even if it's just a day.
