as summer holidays draw closer and finals loom in the near future, i thought i'd give y'all a run through of what my summer is looking like. i believe i will be working at the same place i worked last summer doing database clean-up once more. it's such a wonderful job and not as terrible as i know you're thinking. it'll only be part time (like 20 hours a week or something of that nature). in july, many of you know that i will be on a mission trip. yup, i, kaitlin, will be out of the country for 13 or 14 days. i will be in kiev, ukraine doing crazy stuff. here's my schedule if you're ever pondering, "what is she doing over there today?"
saturday (july 2)
we arrive, meet with mtw, and have dinner with the church planting team.
sunday (july 3)
we eat and attend the worship service and eat some more. we'll be meeting the voluteers that will help us throughout the trip. and then we eat again. fascinating. so far we've eaten a whole lot.
monday (july 4: happy 4th)
we eat and get ready for the seminar we're "hosting" and then eat again. we attend the lecture and then hold a discussion time which consists of questions we have about the lecture for others to answer as well as answer whatever question they ask of us. after that we've got free time and dinner.
tuesday (july 5)
we eat, take a trip to the pirogovo open air museum and eat again while answering more questions. we attend the second lecture and have another discussion, and then free time and dinner.
wednesday (july 6)
we eat, have a scavanger hunt in the city. now that's a little daunting. you know how big kiev is? what? after that the third lecture and discussion and then free time and dinner.
thursday (july 7)
we eat and instead of attending the lecture in a class room (since i'm guessing that's where it usually is) we're taking a trip on the river and having the last lecture and discussion there. there's no say on whether we have free time an dinner so....
friday (july 8)
we eat and then take a trip to alexandria nation park, eat again, and answer questions. we have free time when we get back from that. who knows what the dinner plan is. i go with the flow.
saturday (july 9)
we eat and go into the city. it's tourism day! later that night is a talent show and all us americans will have to figure out a real talent. it's serious man, none of this "i can lick my elbow" crap. and then dinner and free time.
sunday (july 10)
we eat, attend the worship service and have free time. we eat dinner later and then there's a movie night. still not sure what kind of movie, if it'll be a "western" film or not. we'll have to see.
monday (july 11)
day off! w00t!
tuesday (july 12)
we eat and attend a good bye party that include a picnic in the forest (?) and then a good bye dinner in "the restaurant". yes, i am summarizing off the schedule sheet we have.
wednesday (july 13)
we leave. i will be somewhere between kiev and vienna. we are taking a day in vienna to sight-see and be the tourists we long to be.
i should return some time on the 14th or 15th. still not sure about that. and that, my friends, is my action packed summer. i will want to sleep for two days afterwards. that's just a guess but hey! it'll be great.
