picture perfect

i thought i'd share a picture. this is taken from a river boat on the dniper river. on the left is the world war II museum. unfortunately, it's closed on mondays so i was unable to acutally tour the place. the ukrainians sometimes call the statue "iron mama". she's holding a sword and a shield symbolizing those that defended ukraine during the war. on the right is one of the russian orthodox monistaries. they have a tiny museum where you can see the world's smallest book and other such small things. there are also catacombs where all their saints (priest and such) are buried. they believe that the saints don't decay. it's rather interesting. i had to rent a wool coat thing to go into the catacombs because they didn't like the idea of my arms being bare.
